Linking people to their companies

 

All the employees of a company are automatically linked with each other, and appear on each other’s Co-workers list.

Linking to a company

To link a contact with the company they work for:

  1. Open a contact record, and click the Link button Link-icon.jpg next to the Company field.

  2. When the Company Linking dialog box appears, select from the drop-down list.
    - or -

    Click plus-icon.jpg and enter or select a new company name

  3. When you’re ready, click Move.

  4. Click Link on the confirmation message.

Contacts at the same company are automatically linked to this contact and displayed on the Linking tab.

 Changing companies

Sometimes people change companies. To change their link in the database:

  1. Open the contact record.

  2. Click the Link button Link-icon.jpg next to the company name.

  3. When the Company Linking dialog box appears, enter or select a new company from the list, then click Move.

  4. Click Link to confirm.
     

If the company not in the database, you must it before you can move the Contact to  it. See Working with Companies.

 

 

People at the new company are automatically linked to this contact and displayed in the Co-Workers list.

Any co-workers from the old company are automatically un-linked from the contact record. If there is some reason to retain the association, you will have to create new Associate links.
